Orston Playground Association

Forthcoming events: Orston Playground Association Annual Bonfire hosted by Will Gunn – Spa Lane, NG13 9PL

Saturday 5th November 2016 – 5.30pm procession from Village Hall – 6.15pm lighting of bonfire

Tickets – tbc – All proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the Orston Village Playground located at Orston Primary School

The Association was formed at a meeting held in November 2003 as a result of a Parish Council meeting, when it was decided that the playground should have a complete makeover, rather than small individual new pieces of equipment.

The main objective was initially to explore the availability of funding. A charity registered committee was formed, which included Parish Councillors and other volunteers. Funds were eventually obtained through WREN of £34,222.00, and the work was complimented by a grant of £7000 from Nottinghamshire Community Foundation local network fund. The Parish Council also agreed to donate a lump sum of £5000.

Donations, grants and fundraising within the village, including a Scavenger Hunt, Duck Race on the Smite etc., secured a contract with HAGS and the work was completed in September 2004.

The Orston Playground Association are responsible for maintaining the playground.

During the summer of 2016, members of the committee have given some of the main equipment a new paint job and a general clean. We have also purchased a new merry-go-round, due for delivery early September. A new roof for the dolls house is also being looked into.

The association continues to work with the school and the Parish Council to maintain the playground.

We are a friendly committee and always welcome new members. Please approach any of the committee for further information.
