The Association was formed at a meeting held in November 2003 as a result of a Parish Council meeting, when it was decided that the playground should have a complete makeover, rather than small individual new pieces of equipment.

The main objective was initially to explore the availability of funding. A charity registered committee was formed, which included Parish Councillors and other volunteers. Funds were eventually obtained through WREN of £34,222.00, and the work was complimented by a grant of £7000 from Nottinghamshire Community Foundation local network fund. The Parish Council also agreed to donate a lump sum of £5000.

Donations, grants and fundraising within the village, including a Scavenger Hunt, Duck Race on the Smite etc., secured a contract with HAGS and the work was completed in September 2004.

The Orston Playground Association are responsible for maintaining the playground and work with the school and Orston Parish Council to do so.

We are a friendly committee and always welcome new members. Please approach any of the committee for further information.
