(Page updated 20th November 2018)
We are a small friendly group of enthusiastic walkers who meet up about twice a month. Most walks are on Tuesday mornings, covering about 6 – 8 miles. We also arrange occasional longer walks for those who like a challenge.
We meet at 0930 in Orston Village Hall car park for all walks unless otherwise indicated. We then arrange car sharing on an adhoc basis where we need to drive to the start of a walk.
New walkers are very welcome whether you come along for one walk or join us on a regular basis. Please contact Pauline on 01949 851379 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be included on our email circulation list or would like any further information
Here are the proposed walk dates for the next walks – Please keep an eye on your email for information about possible cancellation if the weather is particularly bad. All morning walks, meeting Orston Village Hall car park at 0930, unless otherwise indicated. Please let Pauline know if going direct to the walk start point.
If a walk has to be cancelled, Pauline will normally circulate an email by 8am on the day of the walk.
Tuesday 4th December – John J is leading a walk in the Vale of Belvoir. He is planning a 5.5 mile walk with a shorter (3.5 mile) option, both starting from the Village Hall car park in Harby.
There are several refreshment options including a cafe very close to the finish and a probable stop at Dove Cottage Cafe for those on the shorter walk. Easy walking – mostly bridleways and canal towpath, and no stiles. Route is flexible enough to cope with December weather!
Tuesday 18th December – Xmas walk followed by lunch at the Earl of Chesterfield, Shelford.
Walk dates for 2019
Pauline would appreciate some feedback on the best date to start our 2019 walk schedule.
There won’t be a walk on New Year’s Day, which is 2 weeks on from our Xmas walk.
This means we could start our walk schedule on Tuesday 8th January or Tuesday 15th January.
So, please let Pauline know if you have any strong preference for starting on one or other of the 8th or 15th.
Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to lead walks. If you can take on one of the future dates please let Pauline know even if you haven’t yet got a walk in mind.
If you want to check out if a proposed walk would be OK or need more information about what is involved, please don’t hesitate to contact Pauline (email or 01949 851379)
Further Adventures in the Yorkshire Dales – May 2018
A record 19 walkers enjoyed some wonderful weather in beautiful Arkengarthdale. A few photos for the album are included below:
Adventures in The Yorkshire Dales – May 2017
Another very successful trip to Arkengarthdale, the northern most Dale. As usual we stayed at the CB Inn. Excellent accommodation, good food and great beers. Eleven of us made the trip and the weather was unbelievable. In fact it was rather too hot on the walk from Richmond on the final day (28 degrees!). John Johnson met us on arrival at the CB Inn having completed approx. half The Coast To Coast walk the previous week. He left us on the last day with Gordon to complete the easterly part of the Walk heading to Robin Hood’s Bay. Well done to both.
