Does the need to be perfect get you down?
Do you look at the posts from your ‘friends’ on Social Media and feel lacking? Public displays presenting the perfect life; the perfect children; the perfect holiday in a 5 star villa in the most beautiful little village straight out of the pages of Conde Naste; the perfect 5 tiered celebration cake with home-made ganache and handmade truffle towers; celebrities with their perfect skin and flawless makeup, with their bikini ready bodies. Do you worry that you just don’t live up to these ideals- you need to work harder down the gym, push your children more at school, and earn more money to afford the lifestyle you feel you deserve? And yet you still aren’t happy! Well friends, I have seen the light! I have the answer, and it was shared by all of us who attended last year’s campout down the Millennium Green- Karaoke! The performances (of varying degrees of
imperfection) were belted out with a real spirit of unashamed joy. And they were received with an equally real spirit of acceptance. The singers were encouraged with cheers and whooping – with the audience taking part in a heart-felt sing-along. I felt truly happy to be alive at this time, and in this place, and I got the feeling most of the people there were experiencing similar levels of jubilation. We let our guard down, bared our souls and were accepted as equals. Thank you all for creating a most perfect moment that I will remember for a long time to come.
